    • Presented AFT benefit information

    • Passage of AB 1505 protects local district/agency and gives more local control in regards to accountability of charter schools

    • CDE put together curriculum about ethnic studies

    • State and local PAC

    • Information about Schools and Community First; prop 13 reform

    • Motion to approve June minutes: Approved (John H./Susan W.S.)

    II Treasurer’s Reports: John Hutchings

    • Motion to approve June’s Treasurer’s Report: Approved (Melissa F./Carly B.)

    • Discussion regarding union dues and how they are used

    III Membership Chair – Nancy Mayer (Email list, Membership Drive)

    • 49 new teachers/12 not members

    • Discussion regarding Catastrophic Leave Bank and making sure to notify members and new teachers; you do not have to be a union member to join Catastrophic Leave Bank; email Jim Lynett if you have any questions

    V. Unfinished business/Updates

    a) Negotiations (9/23-24) (Articles 8,9,10,12, 13 and 14 and SPED) (PD Days)

    • Sept 23-24 next negotiations meeting with district

    • Unaudited actuals are in

    • Reserve is 2.68%

    • District wants to still cut $800K from budget

    • SPED and STRS relief

    • District to receive $2.4 million in new money

    • 6-8% increase in SISC benefits

    • Discussion regarding negotiations

    • PRPE/PRJUSD communication meetings starting again monthly; first Wed of every month @ 3:30

    • Document assaults; serious safety issues; contact Jim L.

    • Article 8 changes were agreed upon regarding evaluations

    • Article 10 changes were agreed upon regarding personal necessity days

    • SPED encroachment--$13 million on general fund

    • Presented SPED negotiations

    • Eliminating the 3 PD days would reduce the salary schedule by 1.62%

    b) Grievances (Nicole V, Elementary PE)

    • One at Level 5-Closed School Board hearing regarding lactation room privacy

    • One at Level 4-Mediation regarding Elementary PE class sizes

    c) 6-12 Issues –  (Appoint 6-12 Vice- President)

    • Melissa Flickenger appointed as 6-12 Vice President

    • Concerns about contract not being followed

    • ARC room--no ADA if a child is not in regular classroom; trying to make it more efficient and beneficial for the students

    • Concerns about SPED

    d) TK-5 Issues – Stephenie Walker

    • Hiring of SPED teachers that are not credentialed

    • Safety at TAABS

    • Concerns with combo classes and the impact on the other classes

    e) Digital Newsletter – Susan Whedbee

    f) PAR Report/Website - Fred

    VI.New Business

    a) Evaluation Changes

    • Changes have been made to the evaluation process

    b) Student Discipline Changes

    • Get details to Jim L.

    c) Eastside Dual Immersion Strand

    • Parents preparing a lawsuit regarding elimination of EAP program

    • School Board is interested in a dual immersion strand on the Eastside of town, either Pifer or Virginia Peterson

    • Discussed concerns about the dual immersion idea

    d) SPED Issues

    • Concerns disrtict wide regarding SPED

    e) Catastrophic Leave Bank

    • You do not have to be a union member to join Catastrophic Leave Bank
