President's Report - September 2011
9/1/11 – I attended the first full day of formal negotiations day with the PRPE Team, CTA Representative Terry Welborn, and the new PRJUSD Team. We discussed, evaluations, special education, stipends and contract language.
9/5/11 – I spoke with our CFT lawyer, Jeff Boxer, about our ongoing grievances and PERB case.
9/6/11 – I prepared a report for the AFT Legal Defense Fund to explain our ongoing grievance and PERB case related to the changes in terms and conditions of employment of special education teachers.
9/10/11 – I prepared and sent negotiations request for information generated by my review of the unaudited actuals and consultation with Terry Welborn of CTA.
9/11/11 – I prepared the agenda for our regular PRPE Executive Board/ Site Rep meeting.
9/12/11 – I attended our regular PRPE meeting.
9/14/11 – I attended an English Department meeting at PRHS at the request of Randy Nelson in order to help explain a MOU concerning the English curriculum.
9/15/11- I attended the PRJUSD/PRPE communications meeting to discuss issues that arose at our regular PRPE meeting.
9/19/11 – I consulted with the involuntarily transferred teachers about their grievance after the district’s Level 3 response. I also attended the southern Monterey County/San Luis Obispo County coordinated bargaining session about the crisis in San Miguel and the state budget.
9/21/11 – I attended the PRPE Negotiations Team meeting to prepare for our first full day of negotiations with the district.
9/23/11 - The PRPE Negotiations Team met with district representatives for a full day of formal negotiations.
9/23/11 – I met with the Early Childhood/Kindergarten through 12 CFT state council in Los Angeles about the state budget, pending legislation and the teacher evaluation process.
9/27/11 – I attended the school board meeting to present the PRPE on the PRJUSD initial proposals for the 2011-2012 collective bargaining agreement.
9/29/11 – We had a full day of negotiations with the district. (See the PRPE website for more information.
